Core features of camshaft

Core features of camshaft

  1. Motion conversion: The shaft rotates and relies on the cam profile to convert the rotational motion into reciprocating linear motion, accurately controlling the opening and closing of the engine’s intake and exhaust valves.
  2. High precision profile: The cam curve is precisely machined, which directly determines the valve timing and valve lift, affecting power, fuel consumption, and emissions.
  3. High wear resistance and contact fatigue resistance: The cam surface is subjected to high-frequency impact and compression, and the surface is hardened to prevent pitting and peeling wear.
  4. Anti torsion and shock absorption: It can withstand cyclic variable loads during operation, and the shaft has good rigidity, making it less prone to bending, deformation, and fracture.
  5. High lubrication requirements: The journal and cam rely on oil lubrication, and a lack of oil can quickly cause wear and failure.
  6. Diverse structural forms: bottom mounted, top mounted single cam SOHC, top mounted double cam DOHC; Solid integral and hollow combination lightweight structures are optional.
