1、 Structural characteristics
- The length of the shaft is relatively short, mostly in a split combination structure (camshaft short shaft+extended shaft welded). Compared to the overall long camshaft, forging and heat treatment processing are easier.
- One end has an S-shaped cam profile, and the other end has a spline structure; The intermediate shaft neck is used for installing lining support.
- Divided into left and right wheels, the left and right wheels are dedicated and not interchangeable.
- The commonly used material is 45 steel, which is quenched and tempered as a whole, and the cam working surface is quenched at high frequency for wear resistance and torsion resistance.
2、 Usage and installation features - Compact structure, small space occupation, suitable for light-duty axles, low flatbed trailers and other space limited axles.
- Damage can be replaced in sections, and if the cam end is damaged, only the short shaft needs to be replaced instead of the entire long shaft, resulting in lower maintenance costs.
- With the support of the lining, it rotates flexibly and automatically compensates for the wear and clearance of the brake pads in conjunction with the brake adjustment arm.
3、 Performance characteristics - Convert the rotational torque input by the adjustment arm into radial thrust, and rotate it by a small angle to open the brake shoe, which responds quickly.
- The quenched cam surface has good wear resistance and can withstand torsional and impact loads.
- Disadvantages: If the welding quality of the split welding version is poor, there is a risk of weld fracture under high torque conditions; The journal, spline, and cam working surfaces are prone to wear and tear during long-term use, resulting in brake softness and excessive brake clearance.
